The weather recently has just been a nightmare… wind, rain and cold air! I’m just so ready for Spring already sigh. I have combination skin which gets dry more than it gets oily so I have to make sure it’s hydrated enough to deal with this harsh weather. I’ve always been open to oils having used Olive oil, Vitamin E oil and Clarins Lotus oil on my face in the past but nothing has compared to my beloved bae Trilogy Rosehip oil.
Trilogy Rosehip oil is an oil I came across after reading about it on various sites that praised it for reducing scars, hydrating the skin, smoothing wrinkles, repairing the skin and more. Also it’s always linked to celebrity Miranda Kerr who has beautiful skin so that was just an added push for me to get my hands on it. I purchased my first bottle almost a year ago at Holland & Barrett for £16.50 for 20ml (there’s a 45ml size too) which may seem expensive however this does last a long time. As with any new product, the morning after the first night I used it, I ran to the mirror to see if I had an allergic reaction and the results but all I noticed was supple, smooth skin. That’s when I was like right I’m sticking with this!
The oil is dark orange in tone and comes in a dark bottle to protect it from sunlight. It doesn’t smell like roses, I’m not really sure what it smells like but it doesn’t really bother me. As long as it doesn’t smell like fish, which happens when it’s rancid then that’s fine.
Every night, I apply around 3-4 drops using the handy dropper lid, depending on what I feel my skin needs and then I pat and massage it into my skin to really reap all the benefits. It’s a dry oil so once worked into the skin, there’s no greasy feeling which is an added bonus. It has helped so much to keep my skin nourished, leaves my skin oh so soft and glowing resulting in any dark spots/blemishes appearing to be less noticeable and smoother.
I don’t think I’ll stop using this oil any time soon, even through the summer as I did last year. Using it once a day – at night is my preference as using an oil under my makeup during the day does not sound like the best idea.
There are other brands of Rosehip oil that I’ve heard about such as Sukin or Pai however Trilogy was the first brand I tried so I’ll stick to what I know. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! There is also a 40ml size which retails at £28.99 that I’ll probably get in the future so I won’t run out for a long while. My fear with this however is my Rosehip oil going rancid as long term exposure to air can cause it. We’ll see.
Have you used Rosehip oil before & if so what brand? Let me know.
