Hey guys! Long time no post.. forgive me. It’s still Jan so technically I can still say Happy New Year right? Sooo, happy new year, hope you’re all well and enjoying 2016 so far! 🙂
I’ve only bought one item of makeup so far this month however my birthday is later this week so that will defo change. I managed to get my hands on the BHCosmetics x Carli Bybel palette earlier this month as I loved the look of it. If you don’t know, BH Cosmetics is an american makeup brand (a bit similar to Coastal Scents or Morphe) that has a range of affordable eyeshadow palettes, brushes, lipsticks and more. Also, Carli Bybel is a well-known American youtuber.
Of course having a youtuber launch a makeup product will cause social media to go crazy and it defo did, but my first thought was here goes another raved about palette in the USA that I won’t be able to get. To my surprise though, I was made aware BHCosmetics ship to the UK at a cheap price with NO custom charges and taxes whilst watching a UK youtuber review the palette. I didn’t even finish watching the review and went straight onto the BH Cosmetics site and made an order.
The palette was on offer for $12.50 and the shipping cost was $5.50 so altogether I only paid about £12.63 and it came in less than a week. Bargain or what! Since then I have been in love and I reach for it more often than I thought I would.
Swatches of some of the shadows…
The highlighters! yassss..
I love that this palette consists of 10 neutral matte and shimmer shadows as well as 4 good sized highlight shades. There’s a highlight for any skin tone and they can also be layered on top of each other to achieve the glow of your choice. Who doesn’t wanna glow?! In terms of pigmentation I would give the palette a 8/10 which is good as I really didn’t expect much from such an inexpensive palette. The shimmers are more vibrant than the mattes of course but that’s normal. I think Carli Bybel made a great choice with this palette from the packaging (it’s paper but you can wipe it very easily) which has a large mirror down to the shadows. It’s an all round palette that seems like it would be good for travelling too.
Next up on my list is the BH Cosmetics x Missy Lynn Palette but I’m waiting for all the Missy Lynn lipsticks to be back in stock so I can order them all together. The shipping cost goes up depending how much you buy so that’s why I’m waiting. BH Cosmetics working with youtubers is such a great marketing strategy and I’ll defo explore their site/brand out properly in the near future. If you’re interested in this palette you can purchase it here.
Until my next post, au revoir xx
